Inhuman Torture of Innocent Children in Kashmir Valley on January 26, 2011

Inhuman Torture of Innocent Children

In Kashmir Valley on January 26, 2011

A Reality Show of Separatism Showcased recently in the Kashmir Valley under the complete guidance and protection of the Consortium of National Conference and Congress Party. This is a real life time personal experience of Mr. Vibhu Sharma narrated To Mr. Anurodh Sharma, who in turn sent it to me for my information and feedback. This is a spine chilling story of Inhuman Torture of Innocent Children by the advocate of Separatism materialize recently in the Kashmir Valley. I would like to share the same with my friends over here:

My Experience

by Mr. Vibhu Sharma

When separatist leader 'Yasin Malik' and others marched to 'Lal Chowk' with black flags, the police offered them hot tea and cigarettes. But we were arrested for trying to hoist the National Flag. When we asked for water, the police offered us urine.”

Dozen of BJP youth wing workers who have returned to the Capital — with fractured limbs and numerous wounds — narrated the story of brutality unleashed by the Jammu & Kashmir Police in Srinagar on January 26.

These youth leaders had to sneak into Srinagar and hide in small groups to continue with the plan to hoist the National Flag at Lal Chowk, after threats by separatists and prohibitory orders by the State administration.

While 'Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM)' chief 'Anurag Thakur' and BJP leaders were arrested upon entering Jammu & Kashmir, a couple of youth wing workers made an attempt on January 26 morning to hoist the flag at Lal Chowk.

KK Upadhyay, an engineer from Gurgaon, was the first who tried. He was beaten up. The next group of workers came as close as 20 metres from Lal Chowk. No sooner did one of them take the flag out of his pocket and wave it, that several policemen pounced on him, snatched away the flag, tore it (the National Flag) into pieces and beat him up, fracturing his left hand in the process.

“J&K Police personnel were carrying posters — ‘Indian dogs, go back’. The arrested BJP activists were forced to take off their clothes in sub-zero temperatures. Third degree torture was meted out. Does Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have any explanation for this kind of an action? He should apologise to the nation,” Anurag Thakur told The Pioneer on Friday.

Bhrigu Bakshipatra, Rajesh Chowdhary, Mohan Reddy, Suresh Bagashia (office-bearers), Shyantanam Basu (executive member), Jitendra Meena, Virendra S Khinchi, Lokinder Singh Rajawat, Vijay Upadhyay, Vinod Rawat, Bhupinder Chowdhary, Ashok Bhati (from Rajasthan), RP Singh, Shikha Rai, Hiren Mishra (from Delhi), Pradeep Singh Vaghela, Harsh Sanghavi, Alpesh Sashikant (from Gujarat) and Jitendra Gupta (from West Bengal) had to be admitted to a local hospital after they received serious injuries in a police lathicharge.

The State Police, Thakur said not only tortured party workers but also used obscenities against the BJP national leaders. Maintaining that his yatra was a success - as party workers managed to hoist the flag so close to Lal Chowk despite police cordoning off the area - Thakur said his next plan was to reach out to the people, students in particular, and expose the UPA’s pro-separatist polices.

“We have been successful in our endeavor to excite and rejuvenate India’s youth into proactively taking the cause of national integration and sovereignty,” he said.

MY INTROSPECTION ON THE ABOVE STORY

By Inder Krishen Wali

1)               This is with reference to context of the story ,
But we were arrested for trying to hoist the National Flag.

At the outset, as a normal citizen of India we would like to be educated on, whether it is in any way a criminal act to hoist our National Flag at any of the place of repute within the boundaries of our own Nation...? The answer in general sense is a blunt NO, Not at all...!!! Then WHY were they arrested for no fault/ crime of theirs…????

2)             Well if the authorities in J&K have rudely stopped the innocent children from undertaking a simple nationalistic stand then certainly there must be some anti-social or anti-national or criminal element involved in this action.

If it is in any way a criminal act to hoist our National Flag at any of the place of repute within the boundaries of our own Nation..., then every citizen of the country would like to know, how and why? Because the same children if they wish to hoist our national flag at Connaught Place, Delhi; Fountain, Mumbai; Mount Road, Chennai or Park street , Calcutta ; would they be treated in the same fashion by the respective Governments. We firmly believe the majority would say NO....!!
Rather we are of the view that the respective state Governments would help these enthusiasts to successfully complete their mission and rather provide those with free meals and other facilities at the time of travel in these states. By the way will some learned gentlemen from the PMO or the Home ministry explain ~ Under which article of the constitution of India is it given that we need to have permission to hoist a Flag in our own Nation...??

3)             Very strange, “When we asked for water, the police offered us urine.”

Will anyone take pains to explain as to why those Kashmiri Muslims residing in the Valley were not arrested earlier, when they used to come out in large numbers openly on the streets of the Kashmir Valley shouting anti-India slogans while daringly holding the national flag of Pakistan (our arch enemy) in their hands and that too on our territory and it was very well covered by the national media...??

4)            Read, “When separatist leader 'Yasin Malik' and others marched to 'Lal Chowk' with black flags, the police offered them hot tea and cigarettes.”

Isn’t it very bewildering, why those followers of Yasin Malik and Geelani were not given the same urine at that time by the J&K Police and tortured for showing anti-national feelings...??? Instead they served those anti-national elements with hot tea & cigarettes’....!!! Was that allowed by the Congress party..?? If not then why the Police officers and personnel involved were not taken to task for those anti-national activities..?? If yes, then what is the moral right of the Congress Government to continue in office with such aplomb for openly displaying a very timid approach towards the anti-national elements and thus indirectly supporting such anti-national activities ...!!???
If the PM and his worthless band of spineless creatures don’t have the daring to stop the anti-national elements to raise the flags of our enemy country openly in our own country then with what right  did they struck such a hard blow on our own children for not taking any anti-national stand...!! If the Kashmiri Muslims of the Valley were true to this nation with heart and soul they would have welcomed the children from other states and helped them to hoist the National Flag with pride..!! It is Simple as such..!!!!!

5)              We are further alarmed and perplexed to learn, “Dozen of BJP youth wing workers who have returned to the Capital — with fractured limbs and numerous wounds — narrated the story of brutality unleashed by the Jammu & Kashmir Police in Srinagar on January 26.

Under which national or International Law is it advised to ill-treat in such a rough manner our own children for the simple sanctified job of hoisting our own flag an act of national spirit and that too in our country...!????!!!

6)             Has anyone from the Home Ministry just bothered to investigate, After all Who issued orders to the J&K Police to ill-treat the children of the nation in such a manner to send them back with fractured limbs and numerous wounds — but why were they treated like that; is it only because they dared to show their national spirit openly on the Lal Chowk ????

Is there any doubt whether Lal Chowk, Srinagar is within our own International Boundaries....!!  Why shouldn’t the concerned officer be treated the same way as General Dyer was treated...??? Actually a team should plan to hoist the national Flag in Muzaffarbad next time..!!!! After all it is a universally known fact that West Kashmir is also legally speaking part of Indian Territory which has been illegally occupied by Pakistan.

7)             Isn’t it really amazing and shocking to read...., “These youth leaders had to sneak into Srinagar and hide in small groups to continue with the plan to hoist the National Flag at Lal Chowk, after threats by separatists and prohibitory orders by the State administration.

If our children have to hide themselves from the eyes of our own police only to be allowed themselves to hoist our own National Flag in our own Nation as if it is an anti-national act; then it is really a shame on the part of the authorities who prevented our own boys to hoist the National Flag...? Doesn’t it speak volumes about the ill conceived thought process governed by false ego, element of vengeance, mind-boggling hollow spirit and ridiculous ethics of the authorities concerned to have taken such an action on our own children...???!!!

8)             Is there any such parallel event in the encyclopedia of the International History where the students of the country were prevented by the authorities of their own country to hoist their own National Flag in their own country...???

No certainly not...!! The History has many such instances where the activists were roughed up for hoisting flag but only when the activists had tried to hoist the flag in an enemy territory that they were arrested by the Police of the enemy nation...!!! Logically does that prove that the Central Government silently realises/accepts that they have no control left what-so-ever on the administrative machinery of the J&K State Government....!!???

9)            While 'Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM)' chief 'Anurag Thakur' and BJP leaders were arrested upon entering Jammu & Kashmir, a couple of youth wing workers made an attempt on January 26 morning to hoist the flag at Lal Chowk.

Will the Government Issue a white Paper on justifying with logical reasoning as to why they were arrested at the border? After all they were going with Kalashnikovs or AK47 rifles or hidden hand grenades’ into the valley..!! They had openly declared their simple purpose of their visit which was governed by a sublime mission...??  Why the citizens of J&K should be at all affected by the entry of such peace loving people into the state...!! After all they had not gone there for any anti-national activity as the Islamic terrorists have been doing so all along in the state.

If the common residents of the valley have no problem in inviting terrorists from enemy nations to sneak into the valley only to disturb the  peace of the state then why were they disturbed because of our children entering the valley just like any other tourist...!!

Had they welcomed these people as any other tourist the whole world would have realized their high sense of hospitality and in turn they would have seen a sudden splurge in the tourist traffic next season who would not have bothered about the directions / sanctions of the International Governments not to visit the valley because of the unrest and uncomfortable atmosphere prevailing in the valley for the past two decades...!! But, the foolish Government of Kashmir has lost a beautiful opportunity to use these children as their ambassadors for enhancing tourist traffic without spending a penny..!!

10)          “KK Upadhyay, an engineer from Gurgaon, was the first who tried.

Does the Government of India have any valid answer as to why at the outset Mr. Upadhyay was beaten up..?? What was his actual nature of crime..?? Was there no other peaceful method to control the boys??  Is it that the J&K Police had some hidden revengeful agenda with simple vengeance or was it done under the orders from the State / Central Government.., of torturing the boys who had gone there from other states...?? Does the Home Ministry approve of this heinous action of the state Government towards our own citizens? What if the Children of J&K are treated in the same manner by the Police of other states for no fault of theirs? Would the Home Ministry have tolerated such an action of any other state...!! If not then why did they allow it to happen in J&K…!!!

11)          If the J&K Police had acted illegally with vengeance then they why shouldn’t they be taken to task immediately without any delay..???

12)        If these orders to torture the peace loving boys was done under the official orders from the State/Central Government then both the governments don’t have any moral right to continue in office and must resign forthwith...??!!!

13)         How come just taking out the National Flag from one’s pocket only to open it by waving it in the air amount to any kind of national crime such that the entire Police Force should have pounced and beat the person concerned...?

It is a real shame for the Police force and the Government of J&K....!!! Well the central Government can’t absolve itself from the sinful act either, for being a silent spectator is equally responsible for the grave crime of sedition committed by a federal Government functioning under the Constitution of India...!!

14)        In fact, as per the Constitution of India the Policemen of J&K Police (a public servant) has committed a gross violation of law by first “snatching” away (disrespectfully) the National Flag from the hands of the peace loving boys and second again by “tearing” the same flag (Our National Flag) without waiting for a second as if it was a bomb and he needed to diffuse it..!!

In fact we are surprised that why the Supreme Court has not asked for an explanation from the State Government as well as Home ministry on the grave violation of law by the J&K Police in open...!!
Why those Policemen and their officers have not yet been taken to task for showing such gross disrespect to the National Flag as per law passed by the Parliament...!!????
Why the Central Government is quite on the subject..!!??
Why they have not yet issued summons or asked for the resignation of Omar Abdullah for having mishandled the situation and has in the process hurt the sentiments of the whole nation..!!??
Let the Central Government decide who should pay the price for allowing such anti-national actions and that too by the Public servants....???!!

15)        These boys did not have AK47 in their hands then why was the police so antagonized with their appearance so much so that had to beat them so hard that their limbs were fractured...??  In any way they were not a danger to the survival of the local populace and society...!!

Well, the leadership of BJP or the state Governments of other states may be full of spineless leaders as they have not yet created a genuine furor on the issue as it demanded against the actions of the J&K Government or Centre but the majority community of India is certainly disheartened by the grave commission of negligence on the part of the State Government of J&K towards our children for no fault of theirs...???!!! It is really strange that the J&K Police should not have dared to fracture the limbs of those anti-national forces and leaders who dared to raise anti-India slogans on the streets of the valley in various anti-India demonstrations earlier.

16)        “J&K Police personnel were carrying posters — ‘Indian dogs, go back’ ”
Why did the media not cover this act of sedition...?!? Are the authorities in the Central Government aware of this amazing phenomenon ....!!!?????
If Yes, then what action have they taken against such anti-national forces? And if the answer to this question is NO, then with what moral right the party in power is occupying the seats of power.

17)         The arrested BJP activists were forced to take off their clothes in sub-zero temperatures. Third degree torture was meted out.

When it was very well known that the boys had gone there with the sole purpose to hoist the National Flag in our own territory..!! They were not carrying any fire arms or ammunition so that they could have been a potential danger to the society then why did the J&K Police make use of such third degree torture on them..?? Will Mr. Omar Abdullah reply to this simple question...!! ??? Does this boy Omar, who got the power not because of his father or grandfather but because of the provisions of the Constitution of India, dare to question the supremacy of the Constitution of India...???

Friends, analyzing the various dimensions of this event threadbare has only proved that the Central Government has been all along fooled by the State Government but in reality the spineless leaders of the Central Government have no control or knowledge of the ground realities existing in the valley and are blank what-so-ever about the general administration of the state of J&K...!!
Moreover, the million Dollar question is by such irresponsible action of the authorities of the representatives of the GOI it is beyond our comprehension to understand what message the Government of India has tried to convey to the youth of India regarding their sentiments attached with the National Flag of India which they have been holding so close to their heart...!!!
Hence, it is very clear now that the Central Government has lost the moral right to govern the Nation...???

  2. The highhanded third degree conduct of the police is no doubt reprehensible and needs to be condemned by all. Likewise if they carried posters like "Indian dogs, go back!" that is a shocking offence on the part of the police and the authorities should take strict action against the erring policemen. But the story narrated shows that the agitators were neither children nor were they innocent. So misleading headlines are not warranted for this article. They knew fully well that they would be arrested and not allowed to hoist the national flag there, and took the risk willingly. Perhaps they did not anticipate such excessive beating up and abuses; but anybody who knows the police mentality in general should have anticipated that to some degree at least.
